Sweeping views of the Baie d’Alger from the new Radisson hotel
The Radisson Hotel La Baie d’Alger in Algiers will be the company’s second hotel in Algeria but the first Radisson-branded hotel
This newest hotel marks another addition to Radisson’s growing portfolio of almost 100 hotels in operation and under development throughout 32 countries in Africa.
Algeria’s capital, Algiers, is the country’s political, economic and cultural epicentre. A cosmopolitan city with a prime location on the shores of a bay on the Mediterranean coastline, Algiers is undergoing a spike in tourism, much like the rest of Algeria.
Tourism in Algiers on the rise
Algiers and the rest of Algeria are in the midst of a tourism boom, according to new reports.
Numbers from the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) show that international arrivals to Algeria are projected to hit 4.5 million by 2027.
In addition, the direct contribution of the hospitality market to the Algerian economy’s GDP is forecasted to rise by 4.5% each year from now until 2025.
Elie Younes, Executive Vice President & Chief Development Officer, Radisson Hotel Group, had this to say about the new property as well as Africa and Algeria, “We are pleased to be adding our second hotel to Algiers, the capital of Algeria and the largest urban area in Africa, with the introduction of our Scandinavian-inspired Radisson hotel brand.”
“Algeria is a growth market for us in Africa and Algiers is a key city for hotel expansion. This new hotel will complement the Radisson Blu Hotel, Algiers Hydra, which opened its doors last month. There is a limited quality supply in the market and our people and brands will no doubt contribute to transforming the hospitality landscape in this promising country,” Mr Younes went on to say.
