Indian Ocean key to success for Radisson
Radisson has honed in on the Indian Ocean as a key area for development in the company’s future.
The hotel group is operating in Africa on a much more consistent basis and certain areas of the Indian Ocean have been earmarked for investment and development as part of Radisson’s growth strategy in the African market.
Madagascar, the Seychelles and Mauritius are just some of the locations Radisson have their eye on and the group plans on doubling its presence in the region by 2022.
Investment conference gets the ball rolling
A part of their tactic to make themselves known in the area, the group organised the Indian Ocean Hotel Investment Forum (IOHIF) in partnership with JLL on Tuesday, May 28th at the Trou aux Biches Beachcomber Golf Resort & Spa.
The idea behind the conference was to share Radisson’s vision for its development in the region and to talk about the performance of its six operational hotels in the area.
“Our development strategy in the Indian Ocean comprises our five hotel brands and is oriented on the leisure and business sectors for hotels, apartments with hotel service and dual-purpose projects. Mauritius is a key market for the expansion of the group in the region. We have also a proactive strategy for Seychelles, Madagascar and Reunion Island”, said Ewan Garnier, Director of Development of Radisson Hotel Group for the African and Portuguese-speaking African countries.
Currently, Radisson already has a presence in the eastern part of Mauritius but is keen to establish itself on the western side of the island.
Radisson recently signed deals for three hotels in Madagascar and Garnier said the Seychelles will be part of the group’s planned expansion, with Radisson Blu and Collection brands earmarked for introduction in this location.
