The last decade has seen Hyatt Hotels transform in scale, and growth continues with a strong roster of new luxury and lifestyle openings.

Hyatt Hotels has hailed the strength of its luxury and lifestyle hotel pipeline in the Americas, as the company expands its footprint across new regional markets.

By the end of 2025, the group will have opened more than 20 of such properties across the US, Canada, Mexico, Latin America and the Caribbean, continuing an acceleration of its luxury and lifestyle market presence. Since 2017, Hyatt has achieved significant milestones, doubling its number of luxury rooms, trebling its presence in the resort market, and multiplying its lifestyle room count by four across the world. Indeed, Hyatt reckons to have the fastest growing luxury portfolio worldwide, offering the largest volume of luxury branded hotel rooms in resort properties.

Opportunities to explore

According to Crystal Vinisse Thomas, global brand leader for Hyatt’s luxury and lifestyle brands: “Our luxury and lifestyle brands’ expansion in new and key markets is driven by our desire to offer travellers more opportunities to explore the unique communities our hotels are a part of and the chance to embark on incredible experiences with Hyatt.”

Already this year, the Legend Paracas Resort in coastal Peru has joined the Destination by Hyatt brand, along with the Grand Hyatt Indian Wells Resort & Villas, which opened in September after a USD64m refurbishment and rebrand from the Hyatt Regency flag. The Californian resort features 531 rooms, suites and villas.

In the final stages of construction and pre-opening is Hyatt Centric San Jose Escazu, the brand’s first property in Costa Rica. Its 161 rooms and suites feature artwork created by local Costa Rican artists. And in the Dominican Republic, travellers can look forward to the launch of Hyatt Centric Santo Domingo, another first for the group as it will be the launch property for Hyatt in the country. A 130 room hotel in the country’s capital, it will feature a rooftop bar.

Growth in Hyatt’s home market

In the USA, further resort properties are coming to the market before the end of 2024. These include Grand Hyatt Scottsdale Resort, a rebrand and upgrade of an existing property. After having USD115m spent on it, the resort will feature 496 refreshed rooms and suites, a spa and six choices of restaurants for guests. And in Utah, Grand Hyatt Deer Valley will launch, with 436 rooms and one of the largest mountainside event spaces in the USA. A must for skiers, the region has visitor attractions that make it a year round draw.

Heading into 2025, the strong roster of openings continues with Secrets resorts coming to Aruba, the Dominican Republic and St Lucia. In addition, the Dreams brands will add a presence with Dreams Playa Esmeralda Resort & Spa and Dreams Grand Island. And mainstream brands will also be growing, with Hyatt Centric adding locations in Queretaro, Mexico and San Juan Isla Verde in Puerto Rico.
