First Radisson property to offer chalet-inspired stay in Swiss Alps
The chalet-inspired Radisson Blu Reussen in Andermatt
The Swiss Alps get their very first Radisson property in the form of the Radisson Blu Hotel Reussen in Andermatt village.
A Swiss chalet is the inspiration for the new Radisson Blu property, located in the alpine village of Andermatt.
Only 30 minutes from Lucerne, this new hotel cements the brand’s presence in Switzerland, as the fourth property in the country, and the first in the Swiss Alps.
Radisson Blu comes to the Swiss Alps
Nestled in a valley in the Swiss Alps lies the village of Andermatt which is home to 1500 people who enjoy some of the most breathtaking views this region of Europe has to offer.
By staying at the new Radisson Blu Reussen, travellers can now sample some of Switzerland’s finest landscapes and outdoor activities.
It joins the other destinations in Zurich, Lucerne, Basel and St. Gallen, offering lots of variety within this small country.
The Radisson Blu Hotel Reussen boasts 179 guest rooms, plus 45 suites and apartments.
, CEO Andermatt Swiss Alps, said, “The opening of the Radisson Blu Hotel is a key element in significantly increasing the bed capacity of Andermatt, showing that its development as a destination is flourishing. Together with the new ski area Andermatt-Sedrun, two major projects have been completed and are new driving forces for the tourism sector.”
The perfect base for exploring the Alps
Designed in the style of a Swiss chalet, the new Radisson Blu property merges traditional Swiss-style comfort and practicality with contemporary design and convenience.
The upper part of the hotel is executed in timber cladding which sits on a stone base. Glazed elements around the spa, pool and walkways which connect the buildings bring the hotel into the 21st century.
Guests can indulge in skiing, golfing and mountaineering, all of which are popular pastimes in the area.
For those who want to relax and rejuvenate, one of the highlights of the hotel is its spa and pool which is surrounded by floor to ceiling glazing, so guests can enjoy the view of the imposing peaks which surround the hotel.
The property also has six meeting rooms and an events/conference space, making it suitable for business travellers.
, Radisson Hotel Group’s Area Senior Vice President for Central and Southern Europe, said, “We’re delighted to open this iconic landmark in the charming mountain village of Andermatt after an extensive construction period. We’re also proud to be a part of the overall development of this new year-round destination that provides guests with unique nature experiences, sporting activities and a first-class range of culinary delights. We see Andermatt as a promising and powerful driving factor for tourism in the region, as well as for the MICE sector.”
