Design showcase: Top five pastel-coloured interiors

by | 18 Aug 2021 | Design Showcase

We consider five hotels that have deliberately steered clear of rich hues in favour of a soft, light and airy colour palette for our latest TOPHOTELDESIGN feature.

Most people are familiar with the term ‘pastel colours’, but what are they exactly?

Colour-coordinated interiors

Pastel colours are defined, in technical terms, as a hue with a high value and low to medium saturation. Taking this into consideration, they’re not just the typical cotton-candy pink.

So, how do designers use these without turning a room into a unicorn factory? Great pastel interiors create a calming and harmonious ambience with simplicity, texture and interest.

Today, we’ve selected five projects that’ve successfully turned pastels into their weapon of choice.

From a 158-year-old aristocratic palazzo with restored ornate frescoes, original flooring, a carefully curated modern art collection and cosy, sleek and clean atmospheres with delicately incorporated state-of-the-art technologies to a reinvented mint-toned Vegas nightclub, these designs value comfort while paving the way for captivating experiences.
