The 5-star hotel brand Four Seasons has a healthy host of hotels in its pipeline, according to figures compiled by the TOPHOTELPROJECTS team.
With 47 projects currently in development, we take a look at the group’s plans for the coming years across international markets.
APAC and North America firm favourites for Four Seasons
Internationally renowned hotel brand Four Seasons is in good shape, with 47 5-star projects in the pipeline, set to bring an additional 10,111 rooms to the group’s stock.
29 of the hotels are currently under construction, setting the hotel group up to open 19 new hotels this year and each year for 2021 and 2022.
Three hotels are in the pre-opening stages, and the figures show that Four Seasons is finding fertile ground in the Asia Pacific and North American markets, which will welcome 13 and 15 Four Seasons properties respectively.
APAC will gain 2,553 new rooms from the new Four Seasons hotels, while North America will see an additional 2,478 keys added. In terms of numbers, the Middle East will gain 2,379 new keys from just eight properties, and Africa’s four new hotels will bring 1,649 keys into the region for Four Seasons.
Countries and cities
It follows that if the most important markets for Four Seasons are Asia Pacific and North America, the US and China would be the safest bets for the group in terms of countries.
In line with global trends of the United States jumping ahead of China with hotel development, a reversal of fortunes from the state of play over the past couple of years, Four Seasons will open 10 properties in the US (1,932 rooms) and seven in China (1,473 rooms).
Saudi Arabia looks to be the most promising destination for the group after that, making it into the Top 3 with four hotels translating into an additional key count of 1,124 for the region.
Interestingly, Minneapolis, Jeddah and Sanya are the cities with the largest contingents of Four Seasons properties in their pipelines, with two properties apiece for each city.
Notable projects
Four Seasons Resort Sharm El Sheikh is the biggest property on the roster, with 800 rooms in the popular Egyptian destination of Sharm El Sheikh. This project will involve the extension of an existing hotel and resort by adding an adjoining property so that the final result will include a hotel, conference centre, employee hotel, manager’s quarters, a Mosque, dive centre, and an 18-hole golf course with 52 golf villas. The project is due for completion in 2023.
The Four Seasons Gateway Nicollet Mall will be a 280-key luxury new build property that will form part of a mixed-use development in Minneapolis. The project should welcome guests upon completion in the first quarter of 2022.
The Four Seasons Jeddah Corniche is a 275-key hotel currently under construction in a stunning new development in the Saudi Arabian city of Jeddah. This architectural gem will house four hotels in two towers that sit above a 13-floor podium between floors 14 and 26. Connections between the towers will be made at the 7th floor and at roof level, allowing guests unparalleled views out over the city beyond.
Finally, the Four Seasons Hotel Dalian in China will be a 250-key hotel in the city’s recently redeveloped financial district. This urban hotel will appeal to business travellers in the city for work, and the building will also provide commercial office space along with the hotel. The property is due to open in 2021.
