We bring you a summary of the latest brand developments and awards from the world of Accor
21c Museum Hotels absorbed into MGallery by Sofitel
Accor has grouped its 21c Museum Hotels brand together with MGallery by Sofitel, in a move which consolidates their artistic offerings into one collection.
MGallery by Sofitel is a collection of luxury boutique hotels which appeals to lovers of literature and culture, and as such, the 21c Museum Hotels brand, which Accor purchased last year, fits perfectly under this umbrella.
The brand will remain very much as it is currently and benefits MGallery by lending it a presence in the US, with existing properties located in Arkansas, Ohio, North Carolina, Kansas, Kentucky, Tennessee and Oklahoma.
Yohan Amiot, vice president, brand management, MGallery, said, “The 21c brand is the perfect complement to MGallery’s concept of bespoke, creative hospitality for lovers of travel, the arts and immersive experiences.”
“MGallery was first created in 2008 to share a new vision of high-end, boutique accommodation featuring highly emotive experiences designed to be inspiring, engaging, and richly imbued with character. This ambition gave rise to a collection of unique storied boutique hotels that are captivating, memorable and individually styled. Each MGallery hotel is remarkable for its singular personality and is deeply rooted in the destination’s history,” he goes on to explain.
SO/ Vienna’s Das Loft restaurant awarded Michelin Star
The recently refurbished SO/ Vienna, the Austrian property operating under Accor’s SO/ lifestyle brand, has even more to celebrate than its new look and feel.
The hotel’s Das Loft restaurant, captained by chef Peter Duransky, who joined last year, has once again been bestowed the culinary world’s highest accolade, a Michelin Star.
The 182-room Viennese hotel underwent an extensive transformation, which also included revamping the dining offerings, and Das Loft has certainly proved itself to be worth the wait.
Duransky joined SO/ Vienna in September 2018, and prior to this held posts in the renowned Le Monde restaurant in his native Slovakia, before taking posts in Norway and beyond.
Peter Katusak-Huzsvar, General Manager SO / Vienna, said, “I would like to congratulate our new chef Peter Duransky on having once again earned a Michelin star for DAS LOFT together with his brigade. I am very proud that the last year’s brand relaunch was successful, and the world’s most famous gourmet guide honoured our efforts and performance in the restaurant with a single star. But also the direct, positive feedback of our regular guests and many new guests as well as the excellent capacity utilization of the restaurant confirms our chosen path. “
