5 reasons to fit shower toilets in your hotel

At Geberit, we are convinced that all hotels should be fitted with shower toilets nowadays. Here are five reasons that explain why we think they are such a good idea.

At Geberit, we are convinced that all hotels should be fitted with shower toilets nowadays. Here are five reasons that explain why we think they are such a good idea.

1. Differentiation from other hotels

More than 400,000 hotels around the world have been awarded a star rating. That corresponds to 17.6 per cent of the global hotel market – and this number is growing. That’s according to the figures from the Delta Check Star Count 2018. Competition is fierce on the hotel market, so it pays to stand out from the crowd.

2. Increase in customers within the premium segment

According to the latest DossierPlus report from Statista, luxury tourism is set to overtake general tourism in the next five years. In 2019, global revenue from tourism amounted to USD 5.9 billion. The average annual growth rate for tourism in general is 6.4%, while the luxury segment is slightly higher at 7.3%.

3. Increasing requirements from hotel guests

The Olympic motto “Faster, higher, stronger” could also be applied to the hotel industry. In this case, of course, we’re not talking about the pinnacle of physical performance but about customers’ increasingly high standards when it comes to hotel rooms and suites. Alongside modern flat screens, they also want contemporary bathroom equipment.

4. More customers from Asian countries

The international hotel industry has seen a notable rise in Asian tourists travelling outside Asia in recent years. Following an increase of around seven per cent in 2018 and 2019, the outlook for 2020 is similarly optimistic. That’s according to the trend analysis carried out by the World Travel Monitor.

5. Customers prefer cleaning with water

Over 44% of those surveyed in a gfk study* prefer cleaning with water. Almost half of the survey participants said that they would not want to go without that feeling of absolute freshness, whether they were at home or staying in a hotel.
