Royal Sonesta gets US franchising green light
Sonesta International Hotels Corporation has made the Royal Sonesta brand available for franchising in the US.
Royal Sonesta is a collection of hotels that now provides franchisees an upper-upscale option for city and leisure destinations.
High end advance
Sonesta reports the new franchise offering advances its global development strategy by adding a high-end brand to its franchise portfolio. In September 2021, Sonesta Franchising debuted in the US with a platform of franchise services, hotel operations and franchise support. It features 13 brands with a range of hotel service levels.
The group’s chief development officer, Brian Quinn, said: “The introduction of Royal Sonesta to our franchise portfolio marks a major step in Sonesta’s evolution as an industry leader. We’re excited to create new ways to expand our brands and provide franchisees a diverse portfolio across the upper-upscale, upscale, midscale, extended-stay and economy segments.”
Elizabeth Harlow, chief marketing and brand officer, Sonesta, added: “Royal Sonesta draws inspiration from each hotel’s local surroundings to create innovative spaces with sophisticated design, memorable cuisine and dynamic programming. Royal Sonesta provides our guests with the royal treatment through elevated hospitality that is warm, comfortable and intimate and creates unforgettable moments with a personal touch delivered in a welcoming environment.”
Upcoming royal
Already in the pipeline for Royal Sonesta is Royal Sonesta at 20 Mass in Washington DC, USA. The hotel will have 271 modern and generously sized guestrooms, all of which will offer panoramic views of Capitol Hill and the city skyline. Facilities will include a signature restaurant with outdoor café style dining, an executive penthouse that includes a 3,500 sq ft ballroom overlooking the city, an additional 6,000 sq ft of meeting space, and an extensive fitness centre.
The completed project, due in Q2 2023, will also include office space, on-site retail and dining, plus shared penthouse amenities. The property will feature touchless systems and have an emphasis on LEED and WELL certifications, including a green roof and EV charging stations.
