Radisson reaffirms Asian ambitions

Radisson Hotel Group continues its ambitious growth and development plans across the southeast Asia and Pacific region (SEAP) as its portfolio is set to grow in key capital cities and primary tourist destinations.

The group’s latest regional signings are for hotels across the Philippines, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Vietnam.

Boosted brands

RHG will expand its upper upscale Radisson Red brand in Danang, Vietnam; Phuket, Thailand; and Cebu City in the Philippines, featuring stylish spaces and design.

The Radisson Collection brand – a luxury lifestyle collection of properties in unique locations – will soon enter SEAP with upcoming openings in 2024 in Galle (Sri Lanka) and Boracay (the Philippines). The group will also continue to accelerate the growth of its upper upscale Radisson Blu brand with new properties in the pipeline for Colombo, Sri Lanka and Hoi An, Vietnam.

Sri Lankan sites

Recent group signings in Sri Lanka include the 376-key Radisson Blu Hotel, Galadari Colombo, an upper-upscale hotel in central Colombo set to open in Q2 2025, bringing the total portfolio to six hotels in operation and under development.

Prior to that, Radisson Collection Resort, Galle will mark the lifestyle luxury brand’s debut in SEAP when it opens in Q4 2024. Nestled along the exclusive Talpe beach enclave, the 105-key luxury lifestyle resort boasts direct beachfront access with private villas offering panoramic views of the Indian Ocean. Authentic to its locality, the new resort will offer contemporary living, united by bespoke design and culinary experiences.

Philippines properties

The Philippines will soon welcome the addition of two new lifestyle brands under the Radisson Red and Radisson Collection brands. Set to open in Q2 2024, Radisson Red Cebu Mandaue is a 144-key upper-upscale hotel that is part of the Astra Centre, a major new mixed-use development in the dynamic coastal city. The group also recently signed the 110-key Fridays Boracay, A Radisson Collection Resort which in Q2 2026 will mark the debut of the lifestyle luxury Radisson Collection brand in the beachside retreat of Boracay within the upscale Station 1 of White Beach.

The new hotels mark the continuation of RHG’s growth in the Philippines following its milestone signing of a master development agreement with SM Hotels & Convention Corp in April 2023 to reach 20 hotels by 2028.

Thai rise

Thailand remains a key market for the group and its portfolio expansion is a key priority for growth and brand presence. Since the start of 2022, RHG has experienced significant growth in Thailand with the signing of seven new hotels encompassing over 1,300 rooms.

Upcoming openings in 2024 include Bangkok and Phuket under the Park Inn by Radisson, Radisson Red and Radisson brands.

Vietnam variety

Elevating RHG’s track record of four hotels in Vietnam, a series of eight hotel openings are now in the pipeline.

Radisson Red will make its market entrance in Danang with a new 165-key hotel, set to offer guests a myriad of social and dining spaces, including a bar and lounge, pool bar and sky lounge. Upcoming openings in the pipeline include Radisson Blu Resort Hoi An – the largest resort in the portfolio with 734 keys, as well as Radisson Resort Mui Ne nestled on Suoi Nuoc Beach.

Tremendous opportunities

Elie Younes, RHG’s executive vice president and global chief development officer, said: “Thanks to our owners, guests and team members, we continue our ambitious growth journey in Asia and globally, creating more possibilities and opportunities.

“From midscale to lifestyle and luxury, Asia offers tremendous opportunities to experience, work and invest in hospitality. Based on our recent successes with signings and openings, over 150 hotels have been added in APAC, and we look forward to continuing our exponential growth across the region.”

Significant milestone

Ramzy Fenianos, RHG’s chief development officer Asia Pacific, commented: “We are thrilled to announce the introduction of our new brands, such as Radisson Red and Radisson Collection, into the vibrant markets of SEAP.

“This represents a significant milestone in our development strategy and marks the growth of our lifestyle brands into the Philippines, Sri Lanka, and Vietnam, all of which hold immense potential as key markets for our future growth.”

The group’s portfolio in SEAP comprises over 60 hotels in operation and development.
