Our latest Project of the Week title goes to an ambitious SLS Lux Hotel & Residences-branded property currently taking shape in the US capital.

This newbuild hotel-and-residences scheme in the city’s Mount Vernon Triangle neighbourhood is already turning plenty of heads.

An SLS debut

In 2016, The Peebles Corporation partnered with lifestyle hospitality company SBE to develop Washington DC’s first SLS property, SLS Lux Hotel & Residences, Washington DC.

Peebles acquired this land in 2014 with the vision of creating a huge mixed-use development that would enhance the Mount Vernon Triangle neighbourhood. SBE and its real estate subsidiary Dakota Development are to manage and operate as well as develop the project, which will feature architecture by WDG Architects.

A new social hub

The forthcoming five-star property is located at 901 5th Street, also known as ‘5th & I’, and is aiming to become a hub for both guests and locals, complementing the cultural, nightlife and restaurant scene of the area.

On completion, the property will be home to 198 guestrooms, as well as 59 branded condominium residences. Both hotel guests and residents will also have access to an array of restaurants and other amenities, including parking and bicycles.

Currently under construction, SLS Lux Hotel & Residences, Washington DC is hoping to open in the fourth quarter of 2022.
