We explore how plans to create a newbuild Roomzzz aparthotel as part of the £1 billion St James Quarter scheme in the heart of the Scottish capital are progressing.
Edinburgh is eagerly awaiting the arrival of a property that promises to deliver outstanding views of landmarks like Arthur’s Seat.
A key element of Edinburgh’s St James Quarter
First announced in June 2017, Roomzzz Edinburgh will feature 75 apartments ranging from studios to luxury penthouses, each combining the high-quality experience of boutique hotels with the convenience of serviced apartments. The under-construction scheme will sit within the 1.7 million sq ft St James Quarter, which is being developed by Nuveen Real Estate in phases and has an estimated investment value of more than £1 billion.
Roomzzz Edinburgh will boast a rooftop terrace and balconies for every apartment, enabling guests to soak up vistas of Arthur’s Seat and the majestic city centre. Moreover, the accommodation will include fitted kitchens, widescreen TVs, complimentary wifi, a 24-hour concierge and grab-and-go breakfasts.
Next stop: Edinburgh Waverley
Located on Elder Street, just a three-minute walk from Edinburgh Waverley station, Roomzzz Edinburgh is expected to be ready in Q1 2022. The architects involved in this newbuild project are AMA Studio and BDP.
The AMA Studio-designed St James Quarter scheme will also incorporate a spectacular luxury hotel, due to complete in Q4 2022. W Edinburgh, a 244-room project rising 12 storeys high, is sure to turn plenty of heads thanks to its golden façade crafted from a winding steel ribbon.
