Ozen Collection to double Indian Ocean presence

The Maldives-based Ozen Collection is to double its portfolio with two new resorts heading to the Indian Ocean in the next couple of years.

The brand will be adding a third Maldives site to its system, with Ozen Privé Athiri Gili, as well as debuting in India with Ozen Mansion Kolkata.

City first

At the end of 2023, the brand will take its first step into India with Ozen Mansion Kolkata. Located in the New Town district of Kolkata, the hotel will resemble a stately residence.

A total of 235 keys include club rooms of at least 70 sq m, while two Presidential Suites are spread over 400 sq m and have a private pool. Also onsite will be a club lounge concept and exclusive lounges named after icons of Kolkata culture, such as Victoria, Chowringhee, Eden Garden, Howrah and Kalighat.

Facility ability

Three signature restaurants, an all-day international restaurant, private dining areas, two bars and a café are planned. Amenities will comprise a 1,000 sq m swimming pool with sunbathing area, an Ele | Na Elements Of Nature Spa and wellness centre and an on-site children’s playroom.

The site’s expansive event area will extend over 6,500 sq m, both indoors and outdoors. This includes a large, state-of-the-art banquet hall with a foyer, various board rooms and three large conference rooms. The courtyard, the lawn and the pool area can also host gatherings.

Maldives oasis

Set to open in South Malé Atoll at the end of 2024, Ozen Privé Athiri Gili will be designed to offer a sustainable and secluded retreat in the Maldives. The resort will have 38 pool villas, as well as private dining options.

A selection of multicultural cuisine will be available at the resort’s dining destinations, while spa village Ele | Na Elements Of Nature will offer exclusive private wellness experiences.

Ecological consideration

The development intends to incorporate innovative ecological measures to protect the sensitive local tropical ecosystem. Sustainable initiatives include rainwater collection, renewable energy, a biogas plant, an organic pond swimming pool, the use of geothermal energy and a drip irrigation system.

Much of the produce should come from the island’s own organic farming. Only recyclable materials are used – there should be no food waste. In addition, the ‘3R’ concept (replace, reduce, refine) for waste management will be followed.

Homecoming site

Salil Panigrahi, MD of parent company Atmosphere Hotels & Resorts, said: “Day by day, we continue to evolve into a brand whose philosophy of true gift giving is gaining more and more resonance.

“With the two new The Ozen Collection resorts, we are setting new standards in the field of guest experience. Expanding into India is a homecoming for me and Ozen Mansion Kolkata gives us the opportunity to enrich life in India.”

Further ahead, the brand is also planning a resort in Sri Lanka. Ozen Secluded Tangalle will bring the brand to the Indian Ocean island in 2025.
