Moxy Osaka Shin Umeda, which boasts 288 rooms and a host of F&B outlets, is the third property to open in Japan under Marriott International’s bold experiential brand.
Osaka has welcomed the introduction of a new Moxy hotel in the vibrant Umeda neighbourhood. We take an in-depth look at this dynamic offering.
City-centre fun in Osaka
Moxy is Marriott’s playful and accessible lifestyle brand, squarely aimed at a younger demographic, and its global footprint has grown to over 60 hotels in the short time it has been on the hospitality map. Now the brand is celebrating the opening of another property in Asia, this time in the prominent Japanese city of Osaka.
Rajeev Menon, president, Asia Pacific (excluding Greater China) for Marriott International, said: “We are thrilled to be opening Moxy Osaka Shin Umeda, which marks the third Moxy-branded hotel to open in Japan. This opening is a testament to Marriott International’s commitment to continue expanding its footprint across Japan and Asia Pacific with the experiential lifestyle portfolio catering to the next generation of travellers.”
The hotel is conveniently located in the heart of Umeda, one of the bustling centres of Osaka, just minutes away from Fukushima Station and within easy reach of the city’s many attractions.
What to expect at Moxy’s latest offering in Japan
The hotel boasts 288 guest rooms and suites that, as Marriott puts it, “give guests everything they want and nothing they don’t”. The Moxy brand is built on the pillars of style, destination and experience, and Moxy Osaka Shin Umeda definitely delivers in these regards with a design inspired by Umeda’s art scene and the history of the electronics industry in nearby Fukushima.
The guest rooms are flexible, allowing residents to use them in a way that suits their needs, while new arrivals can look forward to sampling the Got Moxy welcome cocktail at Bar Moxy, which doubles as the check-in desk. Other F&B offerings include The Terrace, a lively outdoor area, the graffiti-covered The Lounge, and the convenient Grab and Go kiosk.
In addition, the property boasts a 24-hour fitness centre and the Library co-working space.
Thomas Vidal, general manager of Moxy Osaka Shin Umeda, said: “Different from anything else in Umeda district, Moxy Osaka Shin Umeda’s locally inspired design and prime location in one of the main hubs of Osaka city will bring the ambience of local Fukushima to life through its well-designed spaces alongside the latest technology, allowing travellers to blend work and play – all at an affordable price point.”
