The prestigious stairs and steel bridges with sophisticated indirect LED lighting accomplish the classic architectural style of the noble hotel Zollenspieker situated at the southernmost point of Hamburg.

In the idyllic Hanseatic landscape along the Elbe River, the historical building was extended to be a luxury hotel in 2012. Offering an excellent range of gastronomic variety and spacious spa areas, the hotel has become an attractive venue for demanding guests. It is also known as a popular event location in Hamburg and the surrounding areas.

Classic steel stringer stairs in a refined look

Covering three storeys, the stringer stairs in premium design perfectly match the traditional but stylish and prestigious architectural concept of the building. The straight flights of the stairs have an effective width of up to 1,250mm.

On both sides, the flat-steel stringers made of bright and sharp-edged steel show a thickness of 15 to 25mm and create an aesthetic basis for the entire construction. The tread steps with integrated footfall sound insulation were realised in box-type structure to accommodate the wooden covering.

Due to the high-quality assembly technology, there are no visible welding seams between the treads and stringers, which results in a homogeneous overall finish of the stairs.

Steel bridges featuring LED lighting for the aesthetic connection of the stairs

Executed corresponding to the design of the stair stringers, the steel bridges in box-type structure link the single flights of the stairs. They are, just like the steps, equipped with a footfall sound insulation.

The interior steel profiles serve as structural support as the high forces transferred by the stair flights have to be compensated. Angular profiles and empty conduits were installed to provide for the cable routing of the indirect LED lighting system.

Design steel railing for an elegant appearance

To meet the highest demands regarding design and technical execution, the filigree railing structure dispenses almost completely with welding connections.

The balusters are made of double flat-steel posts, which were accurately milled in the centre to hold the filling bars. Flat-steel brackets with threaded bolts and cap nuts were used as baluster supports.

To ensure the force-fit gluing of the top-attached wooden handrail, the handrail supports were realised of round bars with ribbed top sides. The balustrade filling consists of slim round bars running horizontally parallel to the stairs’ inclination.

Besides the production and professional assembly, MetallArt also supplied the verifiable structural calculation for the complete staircase construction.
