JW Marriott Hotel Changsha introduces guests to the history and culture of the city it’s located within in central China.

The brand’s first hotel in China’s Hunan Province is designed to provide guests with a haven for recharging and reconnecting.

A new urban sanctuary

JW Marriott is expanding its presence in China with the opening of the brand’s first hotel in Hunan, JW Marriott Hotel Changsha, which is owned by Jianhongda Industrial Group. This new property provides an urban retreat with a holistic approach to well-being and is located within one of the city’s upscale neighbourhoods.

The hotel’s interiors have been designed by HBA Singapore to pair the traditional aesthetics of this region with modern touches. On arrival, guests take the lift to the hotel’s 35th-floor Sky Lobby celebrating the city’s historic architecture through its design.

“We are thrilled to mark the opening of JW Marriott Hotel Changsha as part of our strategic brand expansion across key cities in central China,” said Bruce Rohr, vice president and global brand leader for JW Marriott.

“For discerning guests, JW Marriott creates immersive experiences through thoughtful design, impeccable service and a commitment to restorative travel and holistic wellbeing.”

Doug Ariza, general manager of JW Marriott Hotel Changsha, added: “As the first JW Marriott hotel in Hunan province, it is our privilege to welcome guests to experience the JW Marriott brand’s principles of mindfulness.”

“We are committed to providing our guests a destination for them to be present in mind, nourished in body and revitalised in spirit by offering purposeful programs and genuine service.”

The holistic hospitality experience

The new hotel accommodates guests in 287 guest rooms, including 14 suites, with floor-to-ceiling windows providing views over the Xiang River and Changsha skyline. Interiors decorated in natural hues feature original art drawing on the heritage and culture of the locale.

Guests can dine at the hotel’s three restaurants and two lounges offering nourishing cuisine showcasing the culinary identity of south-central China and the surrounding regions.

The signature restaurant Hao Yu offers Xiand and Cantonese dishes, Ginza Onodera specialises in Japanese teppanyaki and the all-day dining restaurant Yun Kitchen offers local and international specialties at live cooking stations.

The JW Lounge serves afternoon tea on the Sky Lobby level and the exclusive Executive Lounge provides a light menu and handcrafted cocktails with a view over the city.

Encouraging a holistic approach to life, the hotel then features the JW Garden growing ingredients for the restaurants’ menus, the brand’s Family by JW programme and 33rd-floor wellness area encompassing an indoor heated pool with floor-to-ceiling windows, the hotel’s spa and a 24-hour fitness centre.

Events will be hosted in the property’s 650-sq-m Grand Ballroom, a 229-sq-m foyer for receptions and event breakouts, the Sixth Capital Junior Ballroom, a VIP room and five multi-functional meeting rooms.
