Marking both the company and the brand’s Dutch debut, Wilde Aparthotel by Staycity Amsterdam is taking shape in a mixed use development within the borough of Amsterdam-Noord.
Towering newbuild
The 120-apartment site will be part of the 31-storey residential and business Yvie complex, currently under construction by Union Investment. Due to open in May 2024, the Wilde Aparthotel will offer long-stays – from seven days to 12 months – and feature a coffee shop, gym and roof terrace. The property is a five-minute walk to a ferry crossing the Ij river, with onward travel from nearby Central Station.
Construction of the residential and business Overhoeks district, a former oil giant Shell site, began in 2005 and will continue until 2026 with a focus on sustainability as well as providing leisure facilities and cultural attractions.
Design-led brand
Wilde Aparthotels by Staycity is the group’s premium brand, launched in 2018 and inspired by Irish playwright and poet Oscar Wilde.
Its design-led interiors combine Staycity’s Irish heritage with touches of luxury such as touch control panels for lighting, air conditioning, towel rails and blinds, XL-sized bed, Grohe rainfall showers and quality bed linen complemented by a collection of Irish-inspired accessories and soft furnishings. The fully equipped kitchens feature high-end appliances such as Nespresso and Smeg.
Business and leisure appeal
Markus Beike, Staycity’s development director Germany and CEE, said: “We are very excited to be partnering with Union Investment on this landmark property in one of Europe’s most popular cities.
“Wilde offers something a little bit different, appealing to both business and leisure travellers looking for great quality, contemporary self-catering apartments that stand out from the crowd – the perfect fit for this sophisticated location.”
European expansion
Staycity Group CEO and co-founder Tom Walsh commented: “Amsterdam is the perfect addition to our Wilde portfolio, particularly this spectacular building in such a vibrant, up-and-coming modern area.
“Staycity now has nearly 6,000 apartments across 32 properties with our growth plans soon to take in Portugal as well as additional sites in London, Paris, and Munich, so we’re delighted to be adding the Netherlands to our portfolio.”
Other properties in the pipeline include Staycity Les Sablons St Helier on Jersey in the Channel Islands, Staycity Aparthotel Cambridge Park Street in the UK and Wilde Aparthotel by Staycity Nuremberg Hallplatz in Germany.
