South-west England welcomes new Ibis Bridgwater

by | 11 Apr 2021 | Hotel Openings

Cycas Hospitality is celebrating the opening of the first UK hotel to showcase the Ibis brand’s new Plaza design concept throughout.

Ibis Bridgwater has become the largest internationally branded hotel in the popular Somerset town. We find out more.

Ibis spreads its wings

Accor’s prolific Ibis brand is continuing to grow with the launch of Ibis Bridgwater, a 144-key property in a convenient location for business, leisure and work. Operated by Cycas Hospitality under a management agreement with Zeal Hotels and Sandgate Investors, the property is located inside Woodlands Court Business Park.

Crucially, Hinkley Point C, a huge new nuclear power plant that’s currently under development on the Somerset coast, is just 13 miles away. The key workers helping to make that scheme a reality are among the first guests of this new property.

As Covid restrictions ease, however, the hotel will also no doubt prove popular with travellers wishing to explore Somerset and the rest of south-west England.

Ibis Bridgwater boasts two meeting rooms that can hold up to 40 people, as well as over 80 parking spaces, and free coach parking, making it an ideal location for business or group travel.

Wayne Androliakos, Cycas Hospitality’s chief operating officer, said: “We’re delighted that Cycas’ first hotel in the south west of England also marks the opening of our first Accor property in the UK. We are excited to welcome the renowned Ibis brand to the Cycas family and, with an exceptional team in place, look forward to capitalising on the growing demand for contemporary accommodation for both business and leisure travellers visiting the Bridgwater area.”

A new look for Ibis

A newbuild property, it’s the first Ibis hotel in the UK to implement the brand’s new Plaza design aesthetic, and the only Ibis scheme across the country to feature a Keepers Bar and Kitchen; this all-day dining outlet champions regional produce and prides itself on supporting local and regional suppliers.

Cristina de Oliveira-Frewen, SVP of franchise operations at Accor Northern Europe, said: “Ibis Bridgwater is the first UK hotel to feature the brand’s new Plaza design concept. It’s an exciting transformation for Ibis and we’re enormously proud to see the design come to life in this hotel, bringing an urban modernity to the interior design.

“The addition of our Keepers Bar and Restaurant makes this an exciting, modern and affordable hotel for business and leisure guests. Together with Cycas we have created a fantastic hotel and we look forward to developing our partnership further in the future.”
