Recap: Hottest hotel openings in May

May has been a crazy month with Covid19’s impact becoming ever more apparent, but the TOPHOTELPROJECTS database shows there were still plenty of new hotel openings.

May has been wild for reasons that we could never have predicted at the start of 2020, but there were still some stellar hotels opening this month. The numbers are obviously down on usual for the time of year, which in many key markets represents the start of high season for tourism, but nonetheless plenty managed to make it over the line. Here is our rundown of the hottest openings of the past four weeks.

Maritim Hotel Hefei

The Maritim Hotel Hefei is a 335-key new-build property in the capital of China’s Anhui Province. The city is a hub of industry and commerce, with a particular focus on the automotive and chemical industries, and this hotel is likely to appeal to business and leisure travelers alike – boasting 54 floors of pristine accommodation executed in a modern Bauhaus style. Guests can enjoy panoramic views out over both the Yangtze and Huai rivers, and take advantage of the various F&B venues onsite, as well as the stunning rooftop bar.

Holiday Inn & Suites Siracha Laemchabang

This 4-star property is adding 300 rooms to the Origin District of Siracha in Thailand. The new development is a mixed-use complex comprising residential towers, a retail mall and a conference hotel, which can be used as a base for business travellers visiting the area. It is conveniently located close to the city’s industrial estates and commercial zones, and families of business travelers can reside in the extended-stay accommodation within the property.

Quest Robina

The Quest Robina is a range of serviced apartments in the Australian city of Robina, offering guests access to the nearby Spotless Stadium, the main town centre and the transport hub of Robina station. 80 rooms range from studio apartments to two-bed units, while 24 apartments cater for longer term residents.

Dazzler by Wyndham Ciudad del Este

This property in Paraguay’s commercial hub of Ciudad del Este is a 96-key newbuild hotel geared towards business and corporate travelers, although the city is located near the iconic tourist attraction of Iguazu Falls, which attracts visitors throughout the year. Five of the property’s seven floors are dedicated to guest rooms, while the remaining two accommodate conference, meeting and event space, as well as common areas such as restaurants, bars and a swimming pool.
