Fifteen years after it launched, the high design brand Prizeotel has been renamed to affirm its close connection to the Radisson group

Radisson Hotel Group has renamed its Prizeotel brand as Prize by Radisson, underlining the affordable high design brand more closely with its parent.

The move comes as the group reaffirms its commitment to grow the midscale brand, with the signing of two new sites, in Poland and Germany. The additions take the opened and confirmed pipeline properties to a total of 21, as Prize by Radisson grows across mainland Europe.

Strengthening the brand connection

“This transformation enhances our ability to capitalize on Radisson’s overall recognition in the region and grow our brand awareness,” said Valerie Schuermans, vice president for western and southern Europe at Radisson Hotel Group. “The rebranding will allow us to strengthen the portfolio and further accelerate the international expansion of Prize by Radisson”.

The new additions will be a 126 room hotel in the Polish city of Gdansk, where a new build property in the centre will feature a ground floor restaurant and bar. The hotel is expected to open in 2026. It will be followed a year later by the opening of Prize by Radisson Berlin City, a larger 315 room hotel that will be a key element in a mixed use development in the city’s Prenlauer Berg district. Designed upside down, the hotel will feature its lobby, bar and coworking space on the top floor, affording great views across the city centre.

Before these hotels arrive, the brand will add a previously announced hotel in Osnabruck, with a 170 room hotel in development in the city for opening in 2025. And a further new property will launch the brand in Ireland, as Prize by Radisson Dublin is expected to launch in the Irish capital, also during 2025.

Prizeotel was launched in 2009 in Bremen, Germany, followed by Hamburg in 2014 and Hannover in 2015. The brand promised high end style and technology to the fore, and had designer Karim Rashid in charge of the details of every hotel. The aim was not to try to be full service, but to deliver style and strong basics such as a great bedroom and breakfast. In 2016, Radisson acquired a 49% stake in the business, aiming to help accelerate the brand’s growth; this success meant the remaining 51% was acquired in 2019.

A string of openings

In 2022, the brand saw a significant step forward, opening new hotels in Bonn, Vienna and Munster. Currently, the brand has a presence in in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and Belgium – another country market high on the list for growth is the UK.

Prize by Radisson fits into a group brand portfolio that numbers ten distinct hotel and extended stay offerings. From collection brands Radisson Collection and Radisson Originals, through established favourites such as Radisson Blu and Park Plaza, to Park Inn and Country Inn & Suites, Radisson has brands to suit all types of travelling budget, whether for business or leisure.
