Gary Neville’s Relentless Developments is in charge of the 400 million pound development and inked the deal with W Hotel’s parent company Marriott International in 2023.
Manchester-based property developer Salboy has also signed on to the project.
The 41-storey tower will house both a 162-key W Hotels and a 217-apartment W Residences.
The luxury residences portion of the project will allow owners the amenities and services of a W Hotel – including 24-hour concierge, in-residence dining and laundry services.
The W Manchester hotel will include signature W features, such as the Living Room, WET deck, W Lounge, AWAY Spa and FIT fitness centre.
W Manchester will be within walking distance of the city’s iconic Town Hall and Central Library. The development’s central square, with its retail and café culture, will create a new public-use area as the backdrop for the hotel’s guests.
Mixed-use magic
Alongside the hotel’s rooms and amenities will sit nine floors of office space, with plans for 75,000 sq. ft of office space to be built next door at No.2 Michael’s.
A raft of international brands have signed on to join the mixed-use St Michael’s development, including two major law firms and the famed restaurant Chotto Matte.
W Manchester will also be the city centre’s first 5-star hotel, and the brand’s first in England outside London.
Gary Neville, Director at Relentless Developments, said: “We’ve worked so hard to create a development that is distinctive in both its imaginative design and heritage as well as its location connecting the city’s business district with the historic civic quarter.
“Signing a deal with two of the world’s most reputable law firms and setting a new headline rent as we launch is testament to that.”
