The Ritz-Carlton Zermatt earns our latest Project of the Week title with its impressive plans and picturesque mountainside setting.

Expected to open in 2026, this property is set to become the first major international branded hotel in Zermatt.

Refined Alpine style

In partnership with Matterhorn Peak AG, Marriott International is bringing The Ritz-Carlton brand to Zermatt with the creation of this 69-room property, which is scheduled to make its debut early 2026.

Silveroc is developing the property and mls architekten sia ag and AW2 Architecture & Interiors are working on the architectural design with plans to offer a refined take on the classic mountain chalet.

AW2 Architecture & Interiors is leading the design of the property’s interiors, Exterior Architecture London is behind the property’s landscape design and DPA Lighting Consultants is responsible for the illumination design.

Ski-in, ski-out luxury

The five-star property, which is currently in the planning phase, will be located on the west slope and facing south, with a direct view of the Matterhorn from all rooms and suites as well as its two restaurants and bars.

On opening, the luxurious mountainside property will encompass an array of amenities spanning a luxury spa, fitness room and indoor and outdoor pools, as well as a large outdoor terrace, event space and a room for private dining in addition to the main dining options.

Guests will have direct access to the slopes via a ski-in, ski-out chalet, making the most of the property’s location in an area that’s best-known for its skiing and other mountain pursuits in a breath-taking setting.
