Newly renovated boutique hotel set to make a splash in Cape Cod

Baxter Hospitality’s Chapter House is scheduled to open in Massachusetts in April 2022 following an extensive revamp of a heritage property that can trace its roots back to 1716.

The historic inn-turned-boutique hotel will pair the character of New England with upscale amenities and bespoke service.

A historic transformation

On 1 April 2022, Chapter House will begin welcoming guests to explore a freshly renovated space celebrating the history of the original inn, which dates back to 1716. Set in Yarmouth Port, Cape Cod, this property sits on two acres of manicured lawns.

The 21-room hotel is designed to blend the warmth and character of a traditional New England inn with key elements of contemporary hotels. It represents Baxter Hospitality’s second renovation project on Cape Cod – the family-owned hospitality company also owns and operates the nearby Sesuit Harbor House.

“Over the last year and a half, Cape Cod has seen a significant increase in travellers seeking intimate accommodation options,” said Phil Baxter, principal at Baxter Hospitality. “Opening Chapter House this spring allows us to provide a bespoke experience for first-time visitors and returning guests.

“When restoring the property, it was important we honour the inn’s storied past and share our appreciation for the Cape’s history, while also incorporating modern touches and comforts.”

A carefully curated experience

Chapter House consists of a Main House and a Carriage House. The Main House takes over a traditional Victorian mansion, complete with a four-season porch, and inviting lobby with upstairs guestrooms decorated to reflect the hotel’s coastal location. The Carriage House, located just steps away, hosts guestrooms designed with a classic Cape Cod beach feel.

Importantly, the Main House’s deluxe queen rooms and the Carriage House’s superior king rooms can be connected with private entrances.

To further enhance the overall experience, the hotel will serve classic cocktails in the Main House’s lobby bar, which also benefits from having an outdoor firepit. And the 10,000 sq ft event lawn is perfect for accommodating weddings and other celebrations.

Larger groups can also arrange full buyouts of the property.

“The experiences and services we offer our visitors at Chapter House are just as important as the accommodations,” said Silvia Baxter, principal at Baxter Hospitality. “We’ve put great attention and thought into the new programmes for our guests that not only provides a true sense of place within Cape Cod and immerses visitors in the destination but also connects them with other guests too.”
