InterContinental moves further into Riyadh

IHG Hotels & Resorts is further expanding its Saudi Arabian luxury footprint with the signing of another InterContinental hotel in Riyadh.

IHG Hotels & Resorts is further expanding its Saudi Arabian luxury footprint with the signing of another InterContinental hotel in Riyadh.

The management agreement with Al Ajlan Company calls for the InterContinental Hotel & Residences Riyadh North 400-key hotel and serviced apartments to open by 2028.

Modern masterplan

The five star property will form part of a state-of-the art masterplan comprising of high-end retail, offices and entertainment. The hotel will reflect the modern luxury philosophy and is aimed at strengthening IHG’s offering in the segment.

In addition to rooms designed with modern aesthetics, the hotel will feature distinctive dining options, multipurpose meetings and events rooms, a health club and a spa. Located in proximity to the airport, the hotel will also be strategically positioned to cater to business and leisure demand.

Hospitality foray

IHG currently operates 37 hotels across five brands in Saudi Arabia, including: InterContinental, Crowne Plaza, Holiday Inn, Staybridge Suites, and voco, with 29 hotels in the development pipeline set to open within the next three to five years. These include InterContinental Riyadh King Fahed Road, also in the country’s capital; voco Jeddah North delivering 145 keys in Q4 2023; and the 150-room Indigo Hotel Refad Business Park in Al Khobar, arriving in Q3 2026.
