The newest luxury lifestyle brand from IHG Hotels & Resorts, Vignette Collection, is to make its debut in Porto, Portugal.

Casa da Companhia in Porto is set to open late 2022, following the August 2021 launch of the latest addition to IHG’s brand portfolio.

Expansion in Portugal

The launch of Vignette Collection took IHG’s overall brand portfolio to 17, with almost 6,000 hotels in total across more than 100 countries. The brand brings together one-of-a-kind hotels for guests seeking independent hotel experiences highlighting responsibility, community and locality.

Portugal is a key area of growth for IHG and this signing helps to strengthen the group’s luxury and lifestyle hospitality presence. Two more Vignette Collection properties are currently being developed in the Algarve region.

Willemijn Geels, VP of development in Europe at IHG Hotels & Resorts, said: “We are delighted to be announcing Porto’s first Vignette Collection signing this year, expected by the end of 2022.”

“The Vignette Collection is a portfolio of luxurious, distinctive, elegant and intriguing properties – characteristics all of which Casa da Companhia certainly exudes. The new hotel is in one of the best locations in Porto, in the heart of the city. We are excited to welcome guests not only to this fantastic destination, but to experience Vignette Collection first-hand.”

“Portugal remains a hugely important growth market for us and Porto, of course, has so much to offer travellers, being easily accessible from central Europe and at the fore of modern Portuguese culture. We are particularly proud to be breathing new life into a beautiful heritage building and guests are sure to love the newly refreshed facilities at Casa da Companhia.”

A one-of-a-kind experience

On opening, Casa da Companhia will host guests in 40 luxurious rooms and suites in space taking over the historic buildings, restored to celebrate their 18th-century design, on Rua das Flores.

Fitting in with the Vignette Collection, the boutique property aims to provide an authentic luxury experience within the Clérigos district of Porto.

Highlights of the hotel are to include a spa, fitness space and indoor and outdoor pools, as well as a terrace. The signature restaurant will serve locals and guests with a freshly revived menu.

The hotel group currently has 17 hotels across Portugal, with another eight properties in the pipeline.
