IHG picks Mexico for first all-inclusive Kimpton resort

IHG Hotels & Resorts is to overhaul an existing Kimpton site in Riviera Maya, Mexico to become the boutique brand’s first all-inclusive resort.
The group will renovate Kimpton Hacienda Tres Ríos Resort, Spa & Nature Park together with the resort’s owner, Sunset World, and operator, Playa Hotels & Resorts, ready for reopening in early 2024.
Interior renovations
Originally opened in November 2008, the environmentally-conscious resort will be rebranded and have an interior renovation of its 255 guestrooms, suites and villas.
Amenities include 11 culinary concepts, five swimming pools, private beach access, a spa and fitness centre. The resort also will house a total of 26,200 sq ft of meetings and events space across 12 rooms.
Boutique translation
Kimpton CEO Mike DeFrino, said: “This development is testament to Kimpton’s continued growth and broad resonance. Upcoming Kimptons
Kimpton Hacienda Tres Ríos will join the 72-room Kimpton Aluna Hotel as Kimpton’s second property in Riviera Maya. The Kimpton brand continues to grow in the Americas and internationally, with more than 25 Kimpton hotels across 20 new global destinations, including Mexico City, Roatan, Bali and Shanghai, scheduled to open in the next three to five years.
Upcoming sites include Kimpton Hotel Grove District Anaheim Resort bringing 200 luxury keys online in California, USA in Q2 2024; the 155-room Kimpton Four Frankfurt arriving in Germany in Q1 2024; and the 283-room Kimpton Doha C-Ring Road heading to the Qatari capital in Q3 2023.
