Hyatt Hotels Corporation has announced the opening of its new Hyatt Place and Hyatt House properties, both of which occupy a 17-storey building in downtown Tampa, Florida.

A 345-key dual-branded hotel scheme, bringing together Hyatt Place Tampa Downtown and Hyatt House Tampa Downtown under one roof, has made its long-awaited debut.

Hyatt at the double

The launch of Hyatt Place Tampa Downtown and Hyatt House Tampa Downtown in downtown Tampa further expands the two brands’ US presence. They are situated in a prominent 17-storey building across the street from City Hall.

Interestingly, the 230-room Hyatt Place hotel and 115-room Hyatt House hotel are both accessed via a single stylish lobby, while there’s also 3,200 sq ft of ground-floor retail space. Other amenities within this dual-branded scheme include the lobby-level restaurant and bar Corazon, which features an intimate outdoor patio, as well as 3,600 sq ft of event space, a heated rooftop pool with spacious terrace and a state-of-the-art fitness centre.

“Style, convenience and diversity are the foundations of the experiences found at Hyatt Place Tampa Downtown and Hyatt House Tampa Downtown,” said general manager Patrick Sorge. “This is a highly curated and incredibly well-designed dual-branded development, with all the familiar comforts of the Hyatt brands. We are thrilled to be a part of the alluring and diverse culture of downtown Tampa and look forward to welcoming leisure and business travellers who can call our property home during their visit to this incredible city.”

An impressive design team

This exciting new property’s interiors have been conceptualised by architecture and design firm Stonehill Taylor, while Baker Barrios Architects and DPR Construction also made significant contributions to the project. Public spaces combine gold and metal elements with patterned tilework, tropical leaf artwork and accent furnishings, while regional influences shine through in the form of vintage Cuban movie posters and graphic maps.

Hyatt Place Tampa Downtown provides accommodation tailor-made for sleeping, working and playing, with its notable features including Cozy Corner sleeper sofas. Designed for extended stays, meanwhile, the pet-friendly Hyatt House Tampa Downtown delivers a more residential feel with suites boasting comfortable living spaces, stylish bathrooms and fully fitted kitchens.

Both hotels are anchored by Corazon Bar and Restaurant, which focuses on local and seasonal ingredients in regionally inspired dishes like the classic Tampa Cuban sandwich and blackened fish tacos. In addition, grab-and-go snacks are available from the 24-hour H Market. Later on in the year, this lifestyle offering will be bolstered by three new ground-level businesses: a Starbucks café with outdoor seating, The Wicked Pour beer and wine taproom, and the grab-and-go Junmai Station Sushi.

The hotels, which are managed by HRI Lodging, place guests within easy reach of downtown Tampa destinations such as the One Tampa City Center, Tampa Museum of Art and Tampa Riverwalk, Tampa Convention Center, The Florida Aquarium, Amalie Arena and Sparkman Wharf Entertainment District.
