Design showcase: Top five designs with prints and patterns

by | 22 Sep 2021 | Design

Our new TOPHOTELDESIGN feature takes a deep-dive into some of the finest projects by Kit Kemp, founder and creative director of Firmdale Hotels and Kit Kemp Design Studio.

Today, we explore the exciting world of prints and patterns.

Kit Kemp gets creative

A great example of this subject is Kit Kemp and her unique approach to hotel design. Her designs tell stories, celebrate craftsmanship and push the boundaries of colour and textiles.

We selected five projects that show her wide range of colour palettes, motifs and patterns.

However different these may seem at first sight, it is loud and clear that these designs have gone through her distinctive vision.

Among our selection, there’s the Drawing Room at the Ham Yard Hotel, immersed in folk art and bespoke textiles. This room is living proof that with courage great designers can mix and match materials that aren’t usually paired together, and actually make it work flawlessly.

Meanwhile, Room 200 at Charlotte Street Hotel parts from the colour scheme of the exquisite headboard, expanding its bursts of colour into subtle details that pop among the grey background.

And Crosby Street Hotel, with its spectacular artworks inspired by the animal kingdom, amuses guests with its bright and unrepeatable chairs throughout many areas of the hotel.
