Accor has appointed a new senior vice-president development, Europe and north Africa for its economy, midscale and premium brands.

Philippe Bijaoui’s arrival will support Accor’s ambition to remain the fastest growing hotel group across all segments and continue the expansion of its brands in the region.

Defining strategy

With almost 30 years’ experience in the hotel industry for international groups, Bijaoui will be located in Paris and will be part of the newly formed Europe North Africa Executive Committee, as well as the Global Development and D&TS Committee.

He will be responsible for defining the growth strategy in the region in collaboration with the division’s global chief development officer, Camil Yazbeck, leading strategic hotel development projects; and building upon the strong relationships held with Accor’s current and potential partners.

Development experience

Bijaoui has previously held several development management positions in international hotel groups, including spells as head of development Europe for IHG Hotels & Resorts, chief development officer EMEA for Wyndham Hotel Group, and most recently as France MD for Christie & Co.

In 2020, he was awarded the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyor (RICS) qualification (UK), which acknowledges his professional competence in recognised standards in the property, construction and infrastructure markets.
