Bunkhouse Group is partnering with developer The Marchbanks Company to create a newbuild boutique hotel in the Lone Star State’s biggest city.
The 71-key property, which is currently in the planning phase, will be Austin-based Bunkhouse Group’s first development in Houston.
An enviable location
On opening, the newbuild Hotel Saint Augustine will accommodate guests on Loretta Drive, between West Main Street and Richmond Avenue in Montrose, adjacent to The Menil Collection art museum. According to the Houston Chronicle, the project is due to break ground in 2022 and open towards the end of 2023.
This two-storey property, spanning two acres, will house 71 guestrooms, along with a restaurant, bar and event space.

The much-anticipated scheme’s architecture is being designed by Lake Flato Architects. Meanwhile, Post Company is coming up with the interiors and Ten Eyck Landscape Architects is overseeing the landscape design.
Each of Bunkhouse Group’s properties is intended to be rooted in its local community. The group’s parent company, Standard International, is also behind the fast-growing Standard Hotels brand.
