Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants has announced the name and general manager of its forthcoming property, which will boast interiors by Studio 11 Design, in Georgia’s state capital.

Kimpton Wade Hotel will launch under the leadership of general manager Alan Rae later this year.

A new community hub

Opening in Atlanta’s Midtown neighbourhood, Kimpton Wade Hotel is to form part of the Midtown Union mixed-use development by MetLife Investment Management, joining a variety of shops, restaurants, high-rise apartments and green office space anchored by Invesco. The new property will reflect the area’s culture and community with a design that pairs creative inspiration with modern sophistication.

Leading the hotel team here is general manager Alan Rae who’ll draw on his extensive hospitality experience – including stints at several IHG brands – to oversee all aspects of the opening and operations. Rae also boasts a strong knowledge of the Atlanta market, having previously held leadership roles at W Atlanta – Downtown, Hotel Clermont and Wylie Hotel.

“We are thrilled to be opening the doors to our newest Kimpton in Atlanta this summer,” said Rae. “With everything we have planned for The Wade, from the unique amenities and curated guest experiences my team is working on to our inspired, chef-driven restaurant and bars, there will be something new for everyone to discover.

“We plan to appeal to both leisure travellers and business clients alike as our central location will serve as a hub for connecting Midtown’s cultural sights and scenes with its corporate comings and goings.”

A lifestyle hotel concept

The 12-storey newbuild will house 230 guestrooms, including six suites and one presidential suite, with interiors by Studio 11 Design.

Rooms and suites will pair a calming colour scheme of natural tones and deep blues with floor-to-ceiling windows providing views over the Midtown area. In-room amenities will include Kimpton’s signature Atelier Bloem bath products and Frette linens.

Guests will also benefit from the brand’s ‘Forgot It? We’ve Got It!’ amenity programme, evening social hours, a morning coffee and tea service, and pet-friendly policies. In-room yoga mats, a fitness centre and complimentary bike hire will further enhance the overall experience.

In addition, two culinary and cocktail concepts are being planned: the ground-level Modern American restaurant, serving regionally inspired dishes, and a mezzanine-level cocktail lounge and bar, offering small plates and botanical drinks. And special functions will be hosted in 6,600 sq ft of meeting and event space on the second floor.

Kimpton Wade Hotel is due to open in the summer of 2022.
