The former Hotel Formentor will undergo an extensive renovation – overseen by Estudio Lamela, SCT Estudio de Arquitectura and Gilles & Boissier – before reopening under the Four Seasons flag.
In partnership with Emin Capital, Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts will take over the reins at the former Hotel Formentor on the Spanish island of Mallorca, following a revamp focusing on sustainability and preservation of the natural environment.
A new chapter for a historic property
Mallorca’s former Hotel Formentor first opened in 1929 and is now set to enter an exciting new chapter as it undergoes a renovation before reopening with Four Seasons in 2023. On its return, the resort will comprise 110 guestrooms and suites.
The hotel The hotel is located on a 1,200-hectare expanse of the Formentor Peninsula, an hour away from Palma de Mallorca Airport. Here, guests have direct access to a stretch of beach, while a functioning vineyard is just a five-minute drive away.

Luxury hospitality and an appreciation of nature
This
upcoming Four Seasons resort promises to cater for all guests through an extensive culinary offering, along with wellness facilities and water sports, being one of the only hotels in the area to have direct beach access.
The hotel’s 110 rooms and suites will come with balconies offering views over the forest and sea. Renovations will be overseen by architects Estudio Lamela and SCT Estudio de Arquitectura, and interior designer Gilles & Boissier.
The resort will be home to an indoor restaurant, as well as a beachfront restaurant and café, and a poolside bar and grill. While staying here, guests will be able to use the tennis courts, unwind in the spa and visit the nearby vineyard for exclusive programming such as farm-to-table dining.
Meetings and events such as weddings will also be catered for across three event spaces with outdoor options.
Overall, the transformation aims to draw on and protect the natural surroundings. Planned environmental initiatives here include the restoration of native vegetation, rainwater harvesting, the use of solar panels and food-waste management.
This property is set to become the second Four Seasons hotel in Spain following on from Four Seasons Hotel and Private Residences Madrid.
