Wyndham takes Trademark to India

Wyndham Hotels & Resorts has signed its first Trademark Collection by Wyndham hotel in India.

The Earth Amritsar, Trademark Collection by Wyndham will be operated in collaboration with Earth Suites & Resorts Private Limited, a hotel manager with properties currently in Amritsar, Goa and Raipur.

Heritage hotel

Expected to open in early 2024, the 57-room heritage hotel is located in the heart of Amritsar, within the northwestern Indian state of Punjab.

The sprawling five-acre upscale The Earth Amritsar will offer a selection of rooms in two buildings. Accommodations will be spread across the hotel’s 130-year-old heritage building, once home to the Victoria Jubilee Hospital, built to commemorate the 55th year of Queen Victoria’s reign, and more rooms will be available in a newbuild addition, currently under construction.

Natural blending

The property’s contemporary suites are designed to blend with the property’s natural surroundings and historical elements. High-end amenities will include a fitness centre, outdoor pool as well as two restaurants. One restaurant will offer an open air setting and the other will provide an all-day dining option.

The hotel will also boast a whiskey lounge, as well as a banquet hall, meeting space and luxury transfers to and from Sri Guru Ram Das Jee International Airport.

Fast growing brand

Nikhil Sharma, regional director, Eurasia, Wyndham Hotels & Resorts EMEA, said: “Trademark Collection by Wyndham is one of the fastest growing brands in Wyndham’s portfolio and just as no two travellers are alike, Trademark Collection hotels are equally distinctive and defined by a spirit of independence and individuality.

“We see strong potential for the brand in India as it caters to midscale and upscale hoteliers seeking independence while leveraging competitive advantages that come with the scale of a partner such as Wyndham. The Earth Amritsar is an excellent representation of the Trademark Collection brand and will provide guests with an upscale experience in beautiful Amritsar. We look forward to furthering the brand’s presence in the country.”

Fruitful collaboration

Vivek Shah, director, Earth Suites & Resorts Private Limited, added: “The Earth Amritsar, Trademark Collection by Wyndham reflects our fruitful collaboration with Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, and we are looking forward to being the first to bring one of the Company’s most popular brands to this spiritual city.

“With the support of Wyndham’s size, scale, and distribution we will deliver an elevated guest experience in a beautiful heritage setting unlike any other.”

Indian expansion

Wyndham states it is the world’s largest hotel franchising company with approximately 9,100 hotels across more than 95 countries.

India continues to be an important market for the group, as it currently has more than 50 hotels across the country and approximately 30 additional hotels in the pipeline. This includes Ramada by Wyndham Ranchi, a 66-key site coming to the western Indian city in Q2 2025; Ramada Plaza by Wyndham Jammu, an 85-room hotel heading to the northern Indian city in 2024; and the 81-key Wyndham Garden Sonipat Murthal, taking shape just outside the capital, New Delhi, with delivery expected by the end of this year.
