Wyndham Hotels & Resorts has made its debut in Nepal with the launch of Ramada Encore by Wyndham Kathmandu-Thamel.

New Jersey-based hotel company Wyndham Hotels & Resorts is continuing to grow its footprint on the Indian subcontinent, this time in the Nepalese capital Kathmandu.

A boost for Nepal’s hospitality industry

The 90-key newbuild Ramada Encore by Wyndham Kathmandu-Thamel is Wyndham’s inaugural property in Nepal. Located in the capital’s downtown area, it’s another example of the impressive regeneration effort taking place following the devastating earthquake that shook the city in 2015. This property’s conveniently located near major attractions like Everest Base Camp, the Garden of Dreams and Ason Bazaar at Kathmandu Durbar Square.

Nikhil Sharma, regional director for Eurasia at Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, said: “We are thrilled to be expanding Wyndham’s portfolio in this exciting new destination. Nepal is a beautiful country with huge potential and we are pleased to be making our footprint as part of our strategy to further expand our EMEA reach across the Indian subcontinent.

“With a growing portfolio of more than 50 operational hotels in the region and plans to develop around 30 additional properties across India, Bhutan, Bangladesh and Pakistan by 2025, the debut of the Ramada Encore by Wyndham brand brings us one step closer to our mission of making hotel travel possible for all in the Indian subcontinent and beyond.”

What’s in store at Kathmandu’s newest hotel

Ramada Encore by Wyndham Kathmandu-Thamel boasts well-appointed, contemporary guest rooms, as well as numerous onsite F&B options. Guests can choose from the Pateo restaurant and bar; El Beso Caro, whose outdoor terrace affords visitors sweeping views over the city; or Chocos N Subs, which offers light bites and snacks.

But the hotel’s highlight is undoubtedly the spectacular rooftop pool, while there’s also a health and beauty spa featuring a nail salon and fitness centre. Last but not least, business travellers can avail themselves of the property’s flexible meeting space, which can accommodate events with a capacity of 60 conference attendees or 80 banquet guests.
