A Wyndham Hotel Group site in Greece is to undergo a third transformative refurbishment, with completion scheduled for spring 2023.

Five-star resort Wyndham Grand Crete Mirabello Bay on the north east coast of Crete is owned and managed by Zeus International Hotels & Resorts.

Accommodation update

The resort underwent an initial redesign in 2019, and a phase two renovation in 2022 to modernise the rooms and elevate the guest experience. For phase three of the renovation, Wyndham Grand Crete Mirabello Bay will unveil the final remodelling of 108 rooms, six new room categories all with private pools.

The five-star site’s updated guestrooms are set to feature an earthy colour palette and natural materials, including oak wood flooring and black metal finishes. The new rooms will offer bungalow suites and rooms with sea views and private pools and indoor jacuzzis.

Water renovations

The hotel’s main swimming pool will also be extended and finished with an infinity overflow feature, and a floating platform will be constructed in the sea to better serve the water activity centre. The resort olive grove surrounding the yoga platforms will be landscaped, and a new garden will be created, growing native plants and herbs.

Overall, the hotel has 318 rooms that span across the main building and ‘The Village’, comprising one-and two-storey suites with terraces and private pools.

Prior phases

After an initial refurbishment in 2019 which saw the revamp of the first cluster of rooms and main reception area, Wyndham Grand Crete Mirabello Bay underwent a considerable redesign earlier in 2022, inspired by Cretan traditions and integrated with high-end facilities.

The result culminated in a modern design concept honouring local Cretan culture. 100 rooms were renovated, with the addition of 55 private pools and 10 outdoor jacuzzis, and a new leisure and entertainment complex was developed with an open-air cinema, two bars and a beachside tavern serving locally sourced fresh fish and barbecued meats. The hotel’s wellness facilities were enhanced, with added gym and spa features, and the construction of three outdoor wooden yoga pavilions in the olive grove that overlooks Mirabello Bay.

Elevated experience

Haris Siganos, CEO and group president of Zeus International said: “As a well-established and forward-thinking hotel management firm, we understand the importance of adaptation to suit the shifting needs and growing demands of the international, modern-day traveller. It’s not only a case of remaining relevant in an increasingly competitive market but advancing ahead of the curve to elevate the experience beyond that of our competitors.

“The intensive redesign and renovation of Wyndham Grand Crete Mirabello Bay will determine the resort as a cut above the island’s existing properties, establishing it as one of the most deluxe hotel offerings in Crete.”

Elsewhere in Europe, Wyndham will soon be opening the 140-key Tryp by Wyndham Nicosia in the Cypriot capital during Q1 2023 and Dolce Versailles Domaine du Montcel, bringing 178 luxury rooms to Paris, France in June 2023.
