Wyndham's ambitious expansion plans in India have been boosted with the launch of its Vienna House brand in the country

International hotel group Wyndham has signed its first Vienna House project in India, bringing the European hotel brand to the dynamic Asian market with high hopes for substantial growth.

The 100 room Vienna House Easy Vrindavan in Uttar Pradesh is expected to open in 2029. The four star, lifestyle property will be developed by Sachin Kumar, owner and operator of Kumar Beverages Industries, and Nardev Chaudhary.

Expanding Into Branded Residences

Wyndham is also looking to introduce its first branded residences into the Indian market, by the year end. In a local media interview, Dimitris Manakis, EMEA president at Wyndham, pointed to the growing number of mixed use developments in India, often mixing a hotel offering with residences. He also revealed that India is Wyndham’s fastest growing international market.

Hotel growth will be focused on signing larger, 100+ room hotels, in tier one cities. “We’re opening more big-box hotels in locations where the revenue per available room is higher, like Udaipur and Jaipur,” confirmed Manakis. Currently, Wyndham has 96 hotels operating in India, and the group intends to get to 100 open by the end of 2026.

As well as building Vienna House, Wyndham is rolling out many other brands from its portfolio across India. In Jaipur, it is working on developing the Wyndham Grand Resort Jaipur Amer, a 310 room resort on a 9.5 acre site, due to open in early 2027. Two more resorts are in planning, for the wellness-oriented Dolce brand. Dolce by Wyndham Resort Udaipur is already in development, along with Dolce by Wyndham Resort Goa – and both properties are scheduled for launch in 2030.

The Wyndham Garden brand is also growing, with a hotel under construction in Lucknow and the Ramada name is soon to appear in Kerala, where the Ramada Resort by Wyndham Idukki Thekkady is under construction. Local partner T-Dew Resorts is refurbishing a property for launch in 2027.

And in autumn 2027, a landmark property in Rajasthan will be joining Wyndham’s Registry Collection brand. Anamore Registry Collection by Wyndham Pushkar will be set in 18 acres of grounds, and will be one of the region’s largest luxury destination wedding and events resorts.

A Brand With European Heritage

The Vienna House brand was developed by Germany’s HR Group, and was acquired by Wyndham in 2022. Established over 30 years, it had 30 hotels in Germany alone, with more spread across adjacent countries in central Europe. Over the years, a subsidiary brand, Vienna House Easy, had been added.

Currently the brand has two European sites in its pipeline. Vienna House by Wyndham Oldenburg will be created by the refurbishment of an existing property, with the 88 room property opening in Lower Saxony in late 2026. And in Georgia, Vienna House by Wyndham Tbilisi will be opening by the end of the year. Another conversion project, it will have 58 rooms.
