After an impressive past 12 months of openings across EMEA, Wyndham wants to keep up the momentum in 2020.

Wyndham’s presence in the EMEA can be in no doubt, with three new Dubai signings and several market debuts in recent months attesting to the group’s expansion success as the new year and decade get off to a roaring start.

We take a look at what they’ve been up to.

Wyndham expands across EMEA

Europe, the Middle East, Middle Asia, Africa and India have all welcomed properties by Wyndham Hotels & Resorts over the past year, according to an announcement by the global hotel giant.

The first months of 2020 have no doubt been celebratory ones for Wyndham, as it looks back over the past twelve months at new openings in Greece, Germany, Portugal, Georgia, as well as the expansion into previously uncharted territory including destinations such as Armenia, Croatia, Kyrgyzstan and Denmark.

India and the Middle East have also proved fertile ground for Wyndham, with notable openings in New Delhi, Bangalore, Jaipur and Muscat, as well as three new signings in Dubai.

Dimitris Manikis, President and Managing Director, Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, EMEA said, “We are incredibly proud of our strong growth across the region in 2019 and look forward to building on this momentum in 2020 and beyond, across new and existing markets.”

“The EMEA is one of the most diverse regions in the world, and with our wide hotel presence, significant diversity of brands entering new destinations, our expansion is key to deliver on our vision to make hotel travel possible for all, and ensure there is a Wyndham hotel to suit any traveller’s need visiting this vibrant region,” Mr Manikis elaborated.

Notable European openings

While Wyndham might be more closely associated with a presence in the US, that has changed in 2019, with a spate of openings across the EMEA, and Europe in particular.

The Comwell Aarhus, Dolce by Wyndham is in the centre of the Danish city and is a 240-key property close to the harbour, a first for Aarhus. Guests can appreciate stunning views of the city from the hotel, and avail of its flexible conference facilities, as well as its proximity to stylish bars, cafés and restaurants.

The Wyndham Grand Algarve is the first Wyndham Grand property in Europe and is set in a golf club and resort in Portugal’s popular tourist destination of the Algarve. 132 guest rooms provide a base from which to explore the area, and on site there are state-of-the-art spa, wellness and fitness facilities, as well as a kids club that makes the resort perfect for families.

Another European first for a Wyndham brand is the La Quinta by Wyndham Istanbul Gunesli, which offers guests a wide selection of accommodation across 404 rooms, as well as access to a spa and sauna with a Turkish hammam, an indoor pool and steam room, and three restaurants and ample meeting and conference spaces.
