Building on the success of its other extended stay brands, Wyndham has added to the breadth of its offering by launching Wyndham Residences

Wyndham Hotels & Resorts has signed a series of franchise agreements with new partner Reside, adding another extended stay offering to the group’s guests worldwide.

The agreement will initially add five residence-style properties to the group’s global presence, under a new brand, Wyndham Residences. The upscale offering will initially be available in five US locations: locations already open in Seattle and Houston, plus upcoming launches of two properties in Washington DC, and in New Orleans.

Homes with local style

Properties have a distinctive and memorable style, depending on location. The downtown Seattle property, with 55 rooms, is a residence-style hotel, while in Houston the 79 room property has an industrial feel, having been converted from a car showroom. In New Orleans, guests staying in any of the 22 units will enjoy a residence feel in the city’s Bywater neighbourhood.

Ultimately, the aim is to expand the brand to the top 50 markets in the US, catering for those looking for long term accommodation that feels more like a home from home. Apartments typically have a fully fitted kitchen designed to satisfy the most enthusiastic chef, as well as key ancillaries such as laundry facilities.

Reside is a business with more than three decades of experience, managing both multi-family and alternative accommodation, as well as fully furnished corporate housing. Today, the group has a presence in 60 countries globally, via direct involvement and key partnerships. Its business includes 3Sixty, a corporate booking platform that makes it easy for businesses to house staff on assignment, with properties around the globe in cities including Barcelona, London, Sydney and Tokyo. And for those in the military, the group’s On-Base Suites provides temporary, furnished homes for both those serving their country, and contractors working for the military.

The development of Wyndham Residences will build on the group’s global presence in the extended stay niche, which already includes brands Echo Suites, Hawthorn Extended Stay, and the recently added Waterwalk.

Building on an existing extended stay presence

Wyndham already has strong traction in the extended stay space, notably with Echo Suites. It launched the brand in 2022, opening its first property in Spartanburg, South Carolina in mid 2024. In just one year, Wyndham signed more than 200 sites into its pipeline, with the expectation that 75 will be open or well under construction by the end of 2026.

Designed for an economy extended stay, each Echo Suites property nonetheless includes key features for those away from home for a while, including a fitness centre and facilities for washing clothes. Room layouts are a mix of single units, and studios with two queen beds. Operationally, costs are kept low by not offering a round the clock front desk, with automated guest access.
