Construction of the first branded residential resort and marine development in Costa Rica, Botánika Osa Peninsula, Curio Collection by Hilton, has officially begun.
After 20 years as one of Costa Rica’s most celebrated sportfishing destinations, Crocodile Bay Resort is being transformed into a unique hospitality complex. We take a look at this exciting new resort.
A true rainforest immersion
When it opens its doors in October 2021, the property will belong to Hilton Worldwide’s global portfolio of distinct upscale hotels and resorts aimed at travellers interested in local discovery and authentic experiences. At Costa Rica’s Osa Peninsula, guests can expect a rainforest adventure fusing luxury facilities with a connection to the wilderness.
“With Corcovado National Park in our backyard and the Pacific Ocean in our frontyard, Botanika will be virtually surrounded by national parks and forest reserves,” said managing member Cory Williams. “We will have an unrivalled location that will make us the perfect base camp from which to explore Costa Rica’s incredible diversity.”
The resort aims to provide an immersive rainforest experience with the help of a range of guided eco-adventures and world-class sport fishing. There will also be activities catering for all ages and tastes, ranging from visiting a chocolate farm and attending a butterfly sanctuary to conserving sea turtles and kayaking through mangrove forests.

An unparalleled resort experience
According to the plans, Botánika Osa Peninsula will ultimately have 106 studio-, one-, two- and three-bedroom Curio Collection rainforest residences. Each of these will be designed to sit harmoniously within the wild environment.
This project represents the first phase of construction, with 27 Curio-branded hotel residences earmarked for its October 2021 opening.
Special features will include exclusive nature trails and themed green spaces ranging from a hummingbird garden to an orchid garden. Resort guests and owners of the hotel residences will also have VIP access to a planned private beach club, plus use of a fitness centre, restaurant and bar, conference centre and lagoon-style pool and access to Crocodile Bay Marina.
The professional team involved in the development includes Aqua-Aston Hospitality (resort management), Gensler and Modus Operandi (architecture), Francis Jove of Modus Operandi (interior design) and Pete Geyer of Geyer Coburn Hutchins (landscaping).
