Why is Sardinia a new heaven for celebrities?

For many years, European socialites have spent their summers in Sardinia, the second largest island in the Mediterranean. An idyllic, paradisiacal island with crystalline blue waters, white sand, bright wild flowers, hot springs, and perfect breezes, Sardinia has begun to attract a newer crowd: Hollywood celebrities.
This summer, the Italian island welcomed Lindsay Lohan, Elton John, Bradley Cooper and Irina Shayk, giving it a level of glamor and luxury more familiar in places like Palm Springs, Las Vegas, or Dubai. And with this increase of stars, came an increase of paparazzi and buzz on social media, all of which have rejuvenated interest in what in recent years has become a comfortable, but often quiet luxurious enclave.
With the renewed interest in Sardinia, has come a wave of investment opportunities as major players in the global hospitality industry have begun to promote Sardinia as the fastest, up-and-coming opportunity on the planet. According to HotelDesigns.net, the prestigious Chia Laguna resort in Sardinia has announced new upgrades to its Hotel Baia for the upcoming 2017 season, which they say represent the start of a new stage of Italian Hospitality Collection’s €70,000,000 investment plan for the resort, which began presciently back in 2011.
While explaining why Sardinia presents such a robust investment opportunity, developers have cited many reasons. Chief among these reasons is that there is still ocean-front property available in Sardinia, along with hotel building permits. In many comparable locales, such opportunities dried up years ago, if not decades. Some developers are even promoting construction plans as part of the contract, which gives investors a unique opportunity to begin immediate construction on a new hotel.
This property and its associated investment opportunities, which are being managed by world-famous hotelier Eberhard Holch, the executive chairman of Ars Finis Business Solutions, is also located 2 kilometers from a yacht harbor, and it provides the options to build a golf course or a helipad for the aforementioned surge of Hollywood guests. As it would have it, this property also has a thermal hot springs under the land, which would enable any hotel built there to operate as a spa resort all season long, as well as to be internationally recognized for sustainability efforts that result from harnessing geothermal energy.
Sardinia has also begun to make headlines throughout the world as an increasingly relevant player in the global hospitality industry, and not just for the celebrities that have been spending all or parts of their summers there. Harpers Bazaar recently wrote about the island as a unique and luxurious, up and coming travel destination, as did The Guardian and Forbes.
Forbes particularly close attention to Sardinia as a destination for foodies, touting the island as a sort of heaven for lovers of fine dining. Other outlets have praised the Italian island as a destination for sommelier’s to enjoy some of the best wine Europe has to offer. When all that the island has to offer is taken into account, it’s easy to see why so many of the world’s most rich and famous people are choosing to spend more and more time there.
