The spectacular Southern California property, previously known as Monarch Beach Resort, has entered an exciting new chapter under the Waldorf Astoria flag.

This AAA Five-Diamond resort in Orange Country has become Waldorf Astoria’s newest coastal retreat, inviting guests to experience Dana Point through the brand’s personalised approach.

The start of a new chapter

Waldorf Astoria Monarch Beach Resort & Club sits within the hillside of Dana Point overlooking the Pacific. Fusing sophistication with approachable luxury, the resort and private Monarch Bay Beach Club provide an appealing setting for guests and club members to enjoy California’s famed beach culture.

“It is an honour to welcome guests and members alike to Waldorf Astoria Monarch Beach Resort & Club as we unite two distinctive brands to bring unparalleled service and enriching experiences to life,” said Dino Michael, senior vice president and global category head of Hilton luxury brands. “The conversion of this resort is such a natural fit for our brand and we are thrilled to be a part of this iconic, luxury beachfront community in California.”

“We are excited for the next chapter of the resort and to be partnered with the Hilton team to bring it to the next level of unforgettable luxury as Waldorf Astoria Beach Resort & Club,” added James Cole, Ohana Real Estate Investors partner. “Having the Waldorf Astoria’s commitment to legendary service and best-in-class experiences is a fantastic addition to our Ohana portfolio.”

Elevated coastal luxury

The resort’s 400 guest rooms and suites are distinguished by a coastal colour palette, lavish textiles and luxurious furnishings. Meanwhile, first-floor patios boast their own fire pits, adding immeasurably to the beach lifestyle.

Resort guests and club members have access to a wealth of onsite amenities, with a scenic tram ride connecting the complex with its private beach club. Amenities here include The Monarch Pool, The Family Pool, two infinity-edge whirlpool baths, private cabanas with built-in music and an oceanfront 18-hole golf course designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr.

The resort’s dining offering encompasses Michael Mina’s acclaimed Bourbon Steak Orange County; Mediterranean farm-to-table Aveo Table + Bar; Mexi-Cali cantina Sombra; and marketplace Part & Parcel Market. Elsewhere, Monarch Bay Beach Club offers a menu of seafood; Club 19 provides gastro pub dining at the first tee of the golf course; and lobby lounge 33˚North brings together a bar and salon with patio.

To unwind, guests will soon be able to escape to the resort’s all-new spa, which debuts in the spring. There are also more than 40 weekly fitness, yoga and meditation classes for guests and members to join, along with a 4,500 sq ft Outdoor Athletic Pavilion.

Last but not least, the resort is ideally suited for hosting meetings, weddings and other events thanks to the presence of more than 30,000 sq ft of indoor space and a 60,000 sq ft outdoor area, including a lush botanical garden.
