Featuring 294 rooms and 29 suites, the new W hotel is due to open before the year is out.

Marriott International’s W hotel brand is all set to open its second property in Melbourne by the end of the year. With hotel openings delayed around the world due to coronavirus, this offers some welcome news in an otherwise challenging hospitality landscape. We take a closer look to find out what is in store for this exciting new development.

W Melbourne to launch later this year

Hotel giant Marriott has confirmed an opening date for its sophomore W property in Melbourne. In December 2020, this glitzy hotel will welcome guests at the height of the tourist season Down Under. W Melbourne will be located within the Collins Arch development and boast 294 guest rooms and 29 suites, one of which will be the property’s jewel in the crown, the ‘Extreme WOW’ suite on the 15th floor. The suite benefits from an expansive 40 sq m balcony, which overlooks the Yarra River and has its very own private bar, making any occasion extra special.

W Melbourne’s general manager Damon Page said: “This is the luxury lifestyle hotel that Melbourne deserves, and we’re committed to delivering what’s new and next in design, music, fashion and fuel. From our Flinders Lane address to being styled by the streets that surround us, we’ll deliver an unmistakable Melbourne experience, matched by our iconic ‘Whatever/Whenever’ service promise.”

Style and sophistication in Melbourne

The hotel will ooze all of the style and sophistication that the W brand, one of the first to pioneer the luxury lifestyle concept internationally, is known for. Guests and members of the public alike will be able to enjoy the hotel’s choice of four restaurants and bars, with the biggest F&B highlight coming in the form of gourmet Japanese eatery Warabi.

Meanwhile, casual and all-day dining will be available at Lollo, and guests can mingle with Melbourne’s movers and shakers at one of the onsite bars, Curious and Culprit. There is also a state-of-the-art fitness centre, alongside a spa and pool area, which will host poolside parties helmed by its very own DJ and music curator.

Born from the bold attitude and 24/7 culture of New York City, W Hotels, part of Marriott International, is disrupting and redefining the global hospitality scene.
