The opening of W Algarve signifies the vibrant hotel brand’s highly anticipated Portuguese debut.

The brand-new hotel brings new energy to a coastal town at the top of Southern Portugal’s dramatic cliffs.

W Hotels’ Portuguese debut

W Algarve is now welcoming guests to a coastal setting with vibrant social venues and interior design that reflects the property’s locale.

“W Algarve marks the first W Hotel to open in Portugal, bringing a unique, modern luxury experience that is focused on socialising, to the Algarve’s hospitality scene,” said Candice D’Cruz, vice president of luxury brands in Europe, the Middle East and Africa for Marriott International.

“From the hotel’s design that is rooted in Portuguese history and culture, to the W brand’ signature music programming to exciting new dining experiences, W Algarve is a destination where international jet setters and local tastemakers can discover an unexpected side of the destination.”

General manager Cajetan Araujo added: “W Algarve redefines the luxury lifestyle hospitality landscape on the Algarve coast setting a new social scene for locals and visitors alike, with high energy programming and relaxing moments to suit all moods.”

“It feels like the perfect moment to be opening our doors with summer 2022 set to be huge for travel to Portugal, and we can’t wait for guests to discover a new W Escape in one of the most beautiful regions in the world.”

A vibrant new social hub

The hotel accommodates guests in 134 west-facing rooms and suites, along with 83 branded residences, featuring ocean-view balconies, duplex layouts and interior design pairing natural tones with tactile finishes, custom-made furnishings, locally inspired design elements and curated artwork.

Each of the 10 WOW Suites features a private rooftop terrace and the ultra-luxurious E WOW Suite provides the ultimate seaside retreat with 2,100 sq ft of space that’s designed to reflect the surrounding villages and landscape. This suite’s rooftop comes with lush coastal-view gardens, a zero-edge lap pool, dining space and DJ mixing booth.

The property is then home to six dining venues, which are all overseen by the celebrated Portuguese chef Nuno Goncalves. Market Kitchen offers modern interpretations of local cuisine, Cabana serves cocktails at the WET Deck with double-level infinity pool and SIP @ WET offers a range of nutritious dishes.

The rooftop restaurant with terrace, Paper Moon, serves authentic Italian cuisine with a view and the next door Sea Sky offers pre- or post-dinner cocktails. W Lounge offers everything from single-origin Portuguese coffee to the wines of Portugal’s leading female winemakers.

Wellness facilities at the hotel then span AWAY Spa incorporating a wet area with sauna, steam room, whirlpool and tented outdoor relaxation lounge, a Beauty Bar and FIT gym for high-intensity workouts and boot camps. Sunrise yoga is held at the WET Deck.
