Todd Orlich, previously managing director of 1 Hotel Toronto, has taken up a key leadership position at Sir Richard Branson’s lifestyle hospitality brand Virgin Hotels.

Virgin Hotels has recruited a well-known hotelier to support its ambitious expansion plans.

Driving growth

In his new role as VP of operations – North America, Todd Orlich will oversee the operational performance of Virgin Hotels Chicago, Virgin Hotels Dallas, Virgin Hotels Nashville, Virgin Hotels New Orleans and the lifestyle hospitality brand’s forthcoming properties in Miami and New York City. As well as overseeing day-to-day operations, he’ll work with the senior leadership team to develop and execute a strategic plan for growth and profitability.

Orlich said: “I am delighted and honoured to be joining Virgin Hotels during this exciting time. I’m confident together we can exceed the high expectations of both our team and guests as we continue to build upon the success of the brand.”

James Bermingham, CEO of Virgin Hotels, added: “Todd’s leadership will be extremely valuable as he brings an enthusiasm for the brand, our teammates and a passion for performance.”

A wealth of experience

Orlich, who will be based in Miami, brings over 25 years’ experience to his new role.

Before joining the Miami-headquartered lifestyle hospitality brand, Orlich served as managing director of 1 Hotel Toronto. Leading the opening of this innovative luxury hotel, he was responsible for overseeing pre-opening construction, operations and training, while also developing sustainability initiatives for the eco-conscious brand.

Prior to this, Orlich held the position of regional vice president and general manager of Delano for SBE, which saw him oversee SBE hotels in Miami. He has also served as general manager of Montage Laguna Beach and Montage Beverly Hills, and held leadership roles at Loews Hotels & Co and Starwood Hotels, having graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business communications and finance from the University of Arizona.
