Virgin brings in Tim Wyman to drive hotel development

Luxury hospitality brand Virgin Hotels Collection has appointed an experienced hotel industry executive as vice president of development.

Tim Wyman will be tasked with identifying new business, including management and investment opportunities for Virgin Hotels Collection.

Extensive experience

Wyman brings over 20 years of experience from various functions within the hospitality and real estate industries, most recently serving as vice president of investments at NewcrestImage. At this hotel investment firm, he spearheaded the development of several upscale hotel projects and underwrote numerous investment and acquisition opportunities.

Before that, he served as regional vice president of real estate and franchise development at Choice Hotels International, where he was responsible for sourcing and underwriting real estate and mixed-use development opportunities in high-growth urban markets for Choice Hotels’ upscale brands.

Prior to joining Choice Hotels, Wyman also led the development of numerous hospitality projects as vice president of real estate at Gatehouse Capital. He received his bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M University and went on to graduate from University of Dallas with a Master of Business Administration.

Ambitious growth strategy

This hire takes place following the recent formation of Virgin Hotels Collection, which brought together Virgin Hotels, Virgin Limited Edition and Virgin Residences into one parent company to accelerate the global footprint for Virgin Group’s hospitality business.

Virgin Hotels Collection CEO James Bermingham said: “Tim joins the Virgin family at a timely moment as we plot our ambitious growth strategy under the newly formed Virgin Hotels Collection. He brings a diverse skill set, extensive industry knowledge, and a proven track record that makes him an integral addition to the team, and we’re excited to see him take our brands to new heights.”

Global pipeline

The company has several big projects in the pipeline, including Virgin Hotel Glasgow, delivering 242 keys in the UK this April, while Virgin Limited Edition’s Son Bunyola Hotel will follow in Spain during Q3 2023 within Mallorca’s UNESCO world heritage site.

Further ahead the firm will be increasing its presence in the USA, with planned projects including Virgin Hotels Denver Fox Park, bringing 241 keys to the Colorado capital in Q3 2025, and the 250-room Virgin Hotels Miami joining the portfolio in Q4 2025.
