Third party hotel management specialist Valor Hospitality has expanded its business west across the USA, with the signing of a hotel in San Diego.
The company is taking over management of The Monsaraz in Point Loma, as it targets growth of its management business in California and the adjacent states down the west coast of the United States. Valor will take over the day to day operation of the hotel, as well as being responsible for the property’s restaurant and bar outlets and business.
Building on Portuguese Heritage
The Monsaraz opened in 2021, and was the first addition to the accommodation market in Point Loma for more than a decade. Its distinctive style has already led to the hotel becoming a key destination in the town, with interiors that speak to the area’s roots and its connection with Portuguese fishermen who settled there.
The hotel’s restaurant, Unico, draws on that Portuguese connection, in its menu selection. Going forward, it will be supported by Valor’s own internal food and beverage brand, Savor by Valor.
“This is an exciting time for us during our next phase of growth,” said Valor Hospitality CEO Euan McGlashan. ” Further expansion on the West Coast has been something I’ve seen as important for us for a very long time. We could not be happier to pick up such a wonderful property, where we can bring our own brand of hospitality to such a special asset and location.”
Valor continues to build, and currently operates hotels across 75 cities, in 26 countries around the globe. In the US, Valor already manages hotels in 14 states. With a strong, “people first” culture, Valor has built a strong team of hospitality professionals, driven by creating a great guest experience – while also ensuring owners get the returns they deserve from their property assets.
In July 2026, Valor stepped into the Mississippi hotel market, taking over operations of eight hotels in a single deal. Bellamare Development signed an agreement to make Valor its preferred manager across its portfolio of full-service and lifestyle hospitality projects throughout the Americas.
The arrangement started by transferring eight hotels, with 685 rooms, to Valor. Ballamare has developed both hotels and mixed use projects, delivering hotels under Hilton, IHG and Marriott brands.
Growing Across Continents
Valor is also active in Africa, and in May 2026 signed two new hotels in South Africa to its pipeline on the continent. It will open a lifestyle aparthotel in Cape Town in 2027, following up with the launch of the 102-room Tapestry Collection by Hilton in KwaZulu-Natal in 2028.
And the company’s European ambitions are also clear, with the group kicking off 2026 with a multiple hotel signing. The Crowne Plaza Aberdeen Airport, Holiday Inn Express Aberdeen Airport, Holiday Inn Express Trafford City and Hampton by Hilton Liverpool John Lennon Airport all joined the Valor portfolio, adding 700 rooms to the growing management roster.
