by Lauren Jade Hill | 05 Apr 2021 | Portfolio
Mark DeCocinis has been made CEO of the hotel management company, whose properties include The PuLi in Shanghai and The RuMa in Kuala Lumpur.
Urban Resort Concepts has announced that Mark DeCocinis is taking up the post of CEO, where he will lead the next phase of growth and development for its portfolio of ultra-luxury hotels.
A bright future for Urban Resort Concepts
DeCocinis will draw on more than 35 years of leadership experience in order to make a success of his new role. As CEO, DeCocinis will foster a spirit of collaboration to achieve operational excellence and challenge his colleagues to develop innovative approaches to winning luxury business, while also helping build the brand.
This appointment comes as the company looks to enhance its collection of luxury hotels and residences, and move forward with its global expansion plans. Properties are currently under development in Moganshan, Shenzhen, Pudong, Shanghai, Kyoto and Tokyo.
In this next chapter, the company will continue to focus on innovation, investing in its people, elevating experiences and coming up with immersive new features.
“My priority is to collaborate in alignment with our owners, colleagues and partners, focusing on continued growth and business performance of the Urban Resort Concepts portfolio at a critical time for the industry,” said DeCocinis. “We will set new expectation levels in the ultra-luxury hospitality segment with experiences unique to each of the destinations with a deep culture of service and guest experiences recognisable as an Urban Resort Concepts benchmark.”
The new CEO’s proven track record
DeCocinis joins Urban Resort Concepts with a successful track record of leading luxury hotel companies already under his belt. Previously, he served as president and chief operations officer of One&Only Resorts, during which time he led the strategic development and operational performance of the company across nine countries.
Prior to that post, DeCocinis was president of Shangri-La International, and held various US- and Asia-based leadership roles within The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company. As the company’s regional vice president, Asia Pacific, for example, he increased The Ritz-Carlton portfolio from six to 20 hotels – including opening Asia’s first Ritz-Carlton Reserve, Bulgari and Edition properties.
Urban Resort Concepts’ impressive portfolio of properties includes The PuLi Hotel and Spa in Shanghai, The PuXuan Hotel and Spa in Beijing and The RuMa Hotel and Residences in Kuala Lumpur.
