UK chain to overhaul Scottish golf resort addition
Adventurous Journeys (AJ) Capital Partners is to reposition a recently-purchased Scottish hotel to join its Marine & Lawn Hotels & Resorts collection.
The Dornoch Hotel in Dornoch, Scotland will be rebranded as Dornoch Station hotel, honouring the hotel’s original name dating back to 1902, the Station Hotel.
The property will become the fifth under the Marine & Lawn Hotels & Resorts brand, a collection of bespoke hotels located in premier golf destinations.
The site is now closed and for the next several months it will undergo comprehensive renovations of all 122 guestrooms, public spaces, exterior and grounds including the installation of a putting green, fire pits and additional outdoor amenities.
Dornoch Station hotel is expected to reopen in the summer of 2023. During the overhaul, the hotel will be reimagined and reconfigured to expand many of the smaller guestrooms. The fully renovated property will offer 89 more spacious rooms that reflect the Marine & Lawn brand standards. Interior design of the property will be led by AJ Capital’s in-house design team and will pay homage to the property’s rich history, distinct neighbouring community, and scenic views.
Historic property steward
Phillip Allen, president, Marine & Lawn Hotels & Resorts, said: “We are thrilled to expand the Marine & Lawn collection with the addition of the Dornoch Station hotel. The hotel marks our fourth in Scotland and our first in the Scottish Highlands, a beautiful and rugged area steeped in history and myth.
“Few golf courses in the world can match Royal Dornoch’s excellence and character, and we are eager to welcome many of its visitors to our hotel. We’re honoured to be stewards of historic properties such as Dornoch Station and look forward to continuing its legacy for many years to come.”
Launched in March 2021, Marine & Lawn’s sites include Rusacks St Andrews in St Andrews, Scotland; Marine North Berwick in North Berwick, Scotland; Marine Troon in Troon Scotland and Slieve Donard in Newcastle, County Down in Northern Ireland, which is relaunching in spring 2023 following refurbishment.
Marine & Lawn Hotels & Resorts joins AJ Capital Partners’ growing portfolio of hotels throughout the UK. AJ Capital additionally owns and operates Graduate Hotels, which includes The Randolph Hotel by Graduate Hotels in Oxford, England and Graduate Cambridge in Cambridge, England.
