Good news in a bleak April cycle: Australia’s most important city will see two new Marriott properties landing in its suburbs in 2023 and 2024. These new-build hotels will come under the Four Points by Sheraton and Courtyard by Marriott brands. We find out more about these exciting new properties.

International brands beyond the CBD

In these trying times, it is always a welcome relief to hear of hotel projects that are readying themselves for a future beyond Covid19. Two such projects hitting the headlines recently are a pair of Marriott developments that will be located in the outer Sydney suburbs of Auburn and Blacktown.

Developed by local firm T1 Constructions, the hotels will mark the first foray into the world outside Sydney’s CBD for this high-powered international brand. This move is spurred on by the recent growth experienced in both of these suburbs, with industrial and commercial businesses setting up shop there.

Richard Crawford, Marriott International Senior Director of Hotel Development, Australia, New Zealand and Pacific, spoke of the two new signings, saying, “During these unprecedented times, our ongoing goal remains to grow our business and to strengthen our offering in this region. With these signings in Auburn and Blacktown, we are doing just that, and strategically expanding our footprint into growth corridors outside Australia’s metropolitan areas. Auburn and Blacktown are rapidly growing communities, with a range of demand drivers for visitor accommodation. Marriott International is therefore pleased to collaborate with T1 Constructions to deliver what will be outstanding developments as we move into this exciting new phase of our expansion.”

Courtyard in Auburn and Four Points in Blacktown

Auburn will become home to the Courtyard by Marriott Sydney in 2023. This 203-key property will provide accommodation for guests visiting the Sydney Olympic Park, which is in the vicinity of the new hotel site. The property will feature a co-working lobby space, outdoor pool, state of the art spa and fitness centre and a number of F&B outlets, including all-day dining and grab and go bars.

Four Points by Sheraton Sydney will be located in Blacktown. This 206-key hotel boasts the same services and features as its Courtyard counterpart in terms of appealing to urban travellers who wish to avail of the nearby entertainment facilities such as the Raging Waters water park, as well as tapping into local culture through the speciality beer program “Best Brews”, which offers guests a chance to sample locally produced craft beer at the hotel’s lobby bar.

Business travellers will also find everything they need for corporate events or meetings at each of the properties. The Auburn hotel offers guests 370m2 of meeting and events space, while the Blacktown hotel has just over 400m2 of corporate facilities.
