Two new waterfront hotels designed by Broadway Malyan for Mercan Properties in the popular Portuguese city of Lagos have broken ground.

An extensive portfolio expands

The two hotels, branded by Hilton as Lagos Marina Hotel, Curio Collection by Hilton and Hilton Garden Inn Lagos, are being developed by Mercan Properties Group and will join Broadway Malyan’s extensive hospitality portfolio in Portugal and beyond.

The properties are being developed on adjacent plots, both of which had urban planning, architecture, interior design and landscape services provided by Broadway Malyan.

Strongly designed duo

The 90-key Hilton Garden Inn property, which will include 9 suites & 17 extended units, will be within walking distance of the nearby Lagos Marina and will feature a large, elevated sun deck with swimming pools and a bar overlooking a newly landscaped area.

The 180-key Curio Collection by Hilton Hotel includes a large, light-filled lobby lounge, an indoor pool and spa and a large shaded external deck connected to the all-day dining restaurant with a fire pit, providing panoramic views of Lagos Marina and the ocean beyond.

Margarida Caldeira, Global Head of Hospitality at Broadway Malyan, said: “I am thrilled that our projects developed with Mercan are now progressing to site.

“The designs of these hotels are a confident response to the local context of the marina, old station and nearby school. Supported by lush new landscaping, these hotels will vastly improve the arrival experience at the marina and contribute to the waterfront’s appeal as a tourist destination.”
